Arc: Fitness & Nutrition

This Privacy Policy explains how Jeremy Nando ("we", "us", "our"), the developer of the Arc mobile application ("Arc" or the "App"), collects, uses, and shares information about you. Arc is a personal fitness, nutrition, and body-weight tracking app. By using Arc you agree to this Policy.

1. Information we collect

Information you provide

• Account information. You sign in with Sign in with Apple. Apple provides us a unique identifier and, depending on your choice, your name and an email address (which may be a private relay address). We do not receive your Apple ID password.
• Profile and goals. Date of birth, height, current weight, goal weight, and related preferences you enter during onboarding and setup.
• Health and activity logs. Body-weight entries, body measurements, water intake, food and nutrition logs, saved meals, workouts, exercises, sets, routines, streaks, and achievements that you create in the App.
• Food photos. If you use AI photo logging, the photo you capture or select is transmitted for analysis to generate a nutrition estimate (see "AI features" below).

Apple Health data

If you grant permission, Arc reads your step count and active energy from Apple Health (HealthKit) to display your daily activity inside the App. This data is read on your device and shown to you; we do not sell it, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties. You can revoke this access at any time in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices.

Payment information

Subscriptions ("Arc Pro") are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment card details. We may receive confirmation of your subscription status from Apple.

Information collected automatically

Our backend may process basic technical information necessary to operate the service (such as authentication tokens and timestamps). Arc does not currently use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.

2. How we use your information

• To provide the App's core features — tracking your weight, nutrition, workouts, water, and activity.
• To calculate targets and progress, and to generate AI-based food estimates, workout plans, and motivational content when you use those features.
• To authenticate you and keep your data associated with your account.
• To maintain, secure, and improve the service, and to prevent abuse (including per-user rate limits on AI features).
• To comply with legal obligations.

3. AI features and how your content is processed

When you use AI photo logging, AI plan generation, or AI motivational quotes, the relevant input (for example, a food photo or a short text description) is sent through our secure backend to our AI provider, Anthropic, which processes it to return a result. This content is used only to generate your result and is not used to train AI models. We do not retain your food photos on our servers after the estimate is produced; the resulting nutrition values you choose to log are stored in your account.

4. How your information is shared

We do not sell your personal information, and Arc does not show advertising. We share information only with the service providers ("sub-processors") that make the App work:

• Apple — Sign in with Apple, App Store subscriptions, and (with your permission) Apple Health.
• Supabase — hosts our database, authentication, and backend functions; stores the account and log data described above.
• Anthropic — processes AI requests (food photos/text) to generate estimates and content.
• Open Food Facts — when you search foods or scan a barcode, your search term or barcode is sent to this open food database to return results.
• USDA FoodData Central — when you search foods, your search term may be sent to this public U.S. government database to return results.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or in connection with a business transfer.

5. Data retention and deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from within the App (Profile → Delete Account), which removes your associated data from our systems. Some information may be retained where required by law or for legitimate business purposes (such as fraud prevention). Data held by Apple, or search queries processed by third-party food databases, are governed by those parties' policies.

6. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls (row-level security) that restrict data to your account. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You can access and edit most data in the App directly, delete your account in the App, or contact us at the address below. If you are in the EEA/UK (GDPR) or California (CCPA/CPRA), you have specific rights under those laws; we do not sell your personal information as defined by the CCPA.

8. International data transfers

Your information may be processed and stored in the United States and other countries where we or our sub-processors operate. These countries may have data-protection laws different from those in your country. Our database is hosted in the Tokyo, Japan region. Some sub-processors (such as our AI provider) may process data in the United States.

9. Children

Arc is not directed to and may not be used by anyone under 18. The App enforces a minimum age of 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you in the App.
